Pay with Donor Advised Funds (Chariot Integration)

To enable DAF payments, the EIN associated with your Handbid organization account must be a registered 501(c)(3) Public Charity in good standing with the IRS. 

• Navigate to the Add-Ons tab of your Organization Settings

• Select the Connect to Chariot Button. 

  

• If the connection was successful, you will receive a confirmation message with your Chariot ID number. 

  

• You will also receive an email from Chariot.  You must “Claim your account” to complete the setup.  
  
   

Enable DAF pay for Event

• **Navigate Donations tab in your Event Settings.

• **Check the “DAF Payments Enabled” checkbox.  DAF Payments and your bidders can use their DAF account to pay for donations.

Use DAF Pay for Donations on Events Site

If DAF Donations are enabled for your event, donors will see a DAF Donations option when they make a donation on the events site. 

When the user select the DAF pay button they will be prompted to select their Donor Advised Fund provider and follow the prompts to complete the donation. 

Track DAF Donations in the Handbid Manager

If DAF Donations are enabled for your event, you will see a “DAF Donations” and “DAF Purchases” menu option on the left navigation.  

The DAF Donations tab will list all direct donations made on the events site.  The DAF purchases tab will list any items that were purchased with DAF Pay.  These will include Puzzle Pieces and Appeal Items.  The DAF Donations and DAF Purchases screen look and fundation the same.  On these screeens you will see all donations that have been initiated with DAF Pay, the tracking Id, External Grant Id, and fees associated with the donation. 

Mark a DAF Donation as Received

To mark a DAF donation as received, you will want to select the heart icon to the right of the donation and confirm you want to mark it as received. 

Remove a DAF Donation

To remove a DAF donation you will select the remove icon to the right of the donation.  This will remove the DAF donation from Handbid, but does not cancel the donation with the DAF provider. 

The invoice for a donor that used DAF Pay will be marked as paid in full, but the status of the payment will be “initiated” until you have marked the DAF payment as received.
